Alaskan Packrafting Courses

Packrafting is becoming more and more popular all over the world – it’s simply a great way to travel fast, light and into remote areas where hiking would sometimes be very difficult. The combination of hiking and rafting opens up a totally new range of opportunities, which is why these days many expeditions are based on the use of packrafts, especially in Alaska.

If you want to learn how to packraft or improve your skills, you can join one of our multiple day, fully outfitted educational courses.

Fast facts

  • Receive basic packrafting information and important safety instructions in a classroom setting
  • Practice on lakes, calm rivers and whitewater stretches
  • Head out for your actual Alaskan packrafting trip, including hiking sections in the mountains and rafting portions on rivers of different capability levels
  • Our guides will ensure your safety and will completely prepare you for your own future packrafting trips

A packraft is a small (usually one-person) raft which, because of its light weight (5 pounds), can easily be carried in a backpack on a multiple day trip. Even though it is lightweight it still works as a full-on, sturdy raft in serious river rapids.

People raft all whitewater classes in these small boats and use them for weeks or months-long expeditions on rivers, streams, lakes, saltwater bays and fjords all over the world.
